Giving Tree Donations

​This holiday season, you can help brighten a child’s future. The Blue Skies for Children Giving Tree connects caring individuals with local children and teens who are experiencing financial hardship. Giving Trees are displayed at businesses and organizations around Whatcom and Skagit Counties, each decorated with tags that highlight real stories and needs from the youth we serve. These tags are designed to inspire giving—whether that’s providing a warm coat, a new pair of shoes, or helping a child join an enrichment activity they love.

​Stop by our office to get a tag from our tree, or head to one of the many participating local businesses. And if getting to a location is tricky, you can still donate through our Giving Tree Campaign (button below). 

How the Giving Tree Works

• Visit a participating location and look for a Giving Tree. Trees will be set up beginning the week of December 2nd.
• Choose a tag that shares a child’s story or wish.
• Follow the instructions to give a gift or make a donation online.

Every contribution ensures young people in our community can feel confident, included, and prepared for success.

If you aren’t able to visit a tree in person, you can still take part. A secure online donation option will be available directly through this webpage. All Giving Tree gifts support children and youth through our essential needs and enrichment programs.

Stories from the Giving Tree
Tags on each tree share short, anonymized stories representing real children in our program -- siblings needing winter coats, a student who wants to join a school sports team, or a young musician who dreams of continuing lessons. While names and details are changed for privacy, the needs and the impact are real.

Host a Giving Tree
Businesses, faith communities, and service groups are invited to host a Giving Tree. Blue Skies for Children will provide tags, a volunteer to deliver tags and help display them, and simple instructions. All you need is a space to display the tags (an holiday tree, a window or wall, a swag, garland, etc.) Hosting a tree is an impactful way to demonstrate community support and invite others to give.
